http://facebook.com/annmaykelly

Artist Ann May Kelly will take you through the basic steps of how to begin an oil painting and answer a myriad of questions associated with the process. During this demonstration Ann will discuss what materials are needed; how to tone your canvas; what makes a compelling composition; what is an impressionistic pallet; how to avoid muddy colors or chalky colors; how to identify the light source; what does fat over lean mean to oil painting; use larger brushes first then taper down to smaller brushes; when is texture applied; why do painting in “shapes” come before texture and details. This is just a sampling of various questions to be answered at the demonstration.

Gelatin Monotype Demo

Saturday, April 21, 2-4 p.m.

Cost: $5

Ages 8 – adult

Limited to 12 participants

Instructor: Susan Barnes

Monotype Printing is fun for children and adults! The process is simple.  Carve your design onto a non-toxic gelatin plate. Apply water based paint then magically transfer the design to paper with a slight rub of a hand.  Monotype is the most painterly form of printmaking.  Effects can be achieved that cannot be created by other printing processes. We invite you to learn about this fun and easy technique. All materials are provided. All ages are welcome.
